Calling All Torah Readers!
As we did last year, I'm posting a list of the Torah and Haftarah readings that we'll need to prepare for Anshei Darom Retreat #7.
The Navigating the Bible II website provides all the information you need to prepare for reading a slab of Torah. Just click on the link to get there.
This year, we'll read Parshat Mishpatim during Shacharit services on Shabbat, with the verses appropriate for the second year of the triennial reading cycle. It's also Shabbat Shekalim, so there is a special Maftir reading as well as a special Haftarah. At Minchah we'll read three aliyot from Parshat Terumah.
Llne breakdowns are provided below, along with links to the correct spots on the Navigating the Bible site. There, you'll have the Torah script (with and without vowels and trope, so you can practice) along with links to sound files so you can hear how each line is supposed to sound. [The links will take you to the beginning of each reading. Use the "Forward" and "Back" buttons on the webpage to navigate to the other lines. Note that the website breaks its aliyot based on reading the full parashah, so our Kohen aliyah starts at the third reading.]

The readings this year are all pretty manageable. None of 'em are excessively long (Chamishi is the biggest, with nine verses) so, c'mon, all you lehners and lehner-wannabes, let's see some volunteers! You'll have a chance to read Torah in a supportive and welcoming atmosphere - several of the guys have read Torah their very first time at an Anshei Darom retreat. Retreat #7 - Coming Soon to a Ramah Darom Near You!
Yes, that’s right - the Retreat-o-Grams are back again for another year, and if getting them in your e-mail wasn't bad enough, I'm posting them here on the Anshei Darom Blog.

The annual Anshei Darom Retreat will be here before you know it. This year we will be at Camp Ramah Darom on February 24, 25 and 26. That’s Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, as usual - but this year, it's the last week of February. Mark your calendars and register now for a great time.
Registration can be accomplished by clicking this link, which you can also find on the sidebar on the left. Fill out the online form, then send your check for $180.00 in to our treasurer, Joe Zendlovitz.
We have a fabulous program planned, and we will continue to update you as the retreat draws closer. Here are some of the highlights:
Anshei Darom University presents From Mobile to Charlotte: Prophets, Magicians, and Mysteries of the Dead Sea Scrolls. Our Scholar in residence will be Rabbi Alex Jassen of the Department of Hebrew and Judaic Studies at New York University.

Are you interested in davening, learning a Torah portion, or delivering a d'var Torah at the retreat? All are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Please contact Matt Gottlieb by emailing Matt (at) mattgottlieb (dot) com. He is our ritual chairman and can supply you with a list of opportunities.
Tapes or CD's will be made available on request for Torah portions. In addition, we'll be posting a list of the readings here, along with links to websites that will allow you to read and listen to the verses.
